Austria and Germany... Oh, and Prague
So it turns out spending less than 48 hours in a place makes it hard to stay up to date and despite a short break from the rush I still have been unable to catch up. Sorry!!!
But for those of you who are sick of Italy, (which may be blasphemy to even consider being an option) This post will not be about that! I’m going to try and cram Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic into this one short post. And what will I do to convey all of the amazing-ness in one post?
Photos. I promise when I’m not bouncing from hotel to hotel I’ll add more details to everything but there it’s only so much I can do with spotty hotel WiFi.
Innsbruck
It was such a nice break. Not that I don’t love museums and art and all of the amazing things we saw in Italy but it was nice for the day or so we just got to wander around Innsbruck and see a different part of Europe. So what did I do with my day off? I hiked up a mountain to a lake. It was exhausting but was worth the cold and the rain. It was so cool, to see the change of pace from Italy to Austria and watch that cultural shift as we travel. It’s so amazing that places so close together can be so unique while still being within a stones throw from each other.
Salzburg
And then on our way to Prague we stopped in Sound of Music heaven. I wish we had more time in Salzburg to enjoy the town and all of my childhood dreams of seeing this place but I made do with the Mirabell Gardens which were absolutely beautiful.
Prague
The city I felt I knew the least about may become one of my absolute favorites on this trip. PRague is a little hidden gem with beautiful art and buildings and my goodness Mucha may just be my new favorite artist that I’ve discovered on this trip. But reality is I don’t think I can put into words how beautiful this city is but my little bitty pictures will just have to do.
Berlin
Sorry Prague, I know I just said I fell in love with you but there is a special part of my heart that will always belong to Berlin. I forgot how much I love the street art and the patchwork of the city with the old and the new and just how many cools things it is bursting with. I also finally got to check two things off my bucket list! First was the Ishtar Gates which I am still so in awe over and to go into the Jewish Memorial which was closed last time I was there! All of the mix of ideas and culture and history is the shortest way to describe how cool Berlin is and how I wish I had more time to spend in this amazing place.
So here is a very unsatisfying blog post that I promise to redeem myself with when I am sleeping in my own bad and not having to empty the content of my suitcase and backpack to try and find my toothbrush every night. But in summary, this week was exhausting and amazing! So many places I want to come back to and so much more that I want to learn about. Cross your fingers that I get my next one up on time and that I’ll be able to fill you in better on Paris than I did on this part of the trip. Again sorry, but also I think I’m doing pretty good in the circumstances. Next post might be on some sort of a schedule!!!!
