A Very Long Post About My Second Home ( a.k.a the U.K)
No I am not being dramatic about my feelings for the United Kingdom. Before this program began I had already lived there for almost two years to stepping off the plane was just like coming home although Scotland is a little more damp than the United States in June but I still love it.
THIS WILL BE A LONG POST!!!
So if you just want to skim and look at the pictures I will not be offended however you may be confused as to what some of them are but that will be on you not me for your lack of commitment. Also sorry my timing is a little off, I got sick and that has thrown all of my timing out the window but give me credit for trying to make lemonade out of it, okay?
SCOTLAND
What about Scotland? Well, there is Edinburgh and Glasgow and lots of other places I want to see one day but haven't made it to yet. But I thouroughly enjoyed the Scottish Galleries and the haunted graveyard where one or more Harry Potter Character names might have come from and all the beautiful Scottishness that is apparently my heritage and if I had any doubts about it, I found a sculpture of an ancestor to prove I'm a real Scot.
This city is home to the galleries which again I'll post pictures of later (but will still not be as good as seeing them in real life) But I thought this picture of the outdoor piece Landform by Charles Jencks' was pretty cool at the Scottish National Museum was pretty cool. I'm a big fan of things you can experience as well as see and being able to wander over this was amazing, I wish more museums had pieces like this. I love how art adapts and changes over time and how its starting to draw people out of the museum.
Its no wonder this part of the world inspired so many wonderful writers and artists, and I think the name Romantics suits them and the lakes and hills that inspired them quite well. It is of course another place I wish I’d had more time in but hopefully these few short pictures will hint at just how beautiful and gorgeous the Lake District really is.
These photos should be enough to convince you that the Tate Modern has plenty of cool things to see that are beyond description and that must be seen.
And for amazing antiquities like the lamassu go to the British Museum please please pretty please please go!!!
And then there is one of the most beautiful gardens in England that are so beautiful either because or in spite of the rain and the fact they were in Pride and Prejudice is yet another reason for loving Stourhead.
And with Kensington Gardens and the National History Museum, which I’ll hopefully be able to come back to at another time to fill your mind with all of the cool history if not my personal love for them, that’s the end of the trip. So many cool places, so little time, but a once in a life time opportunity that was worth more than it’s weight in gold. But I’m letting you go before I lose your complete focus and promise to be more organized and concise in the future. But all you really need to know is that you need a lot more Stamps in your passport and a professor to show you just amazing the world really is.

Edinburgh...
But of course not only did I spend my time wandering around museums in Scotland I fed my inner child and visited the Harry Potter sites that are near and dear to my heart. That meant I had to make a pilgrimage to where J.K. Rowling first started writing the story and drink in the atmosphere along with wandering through one of the most haunted graveyards in the world to find Tom Riddle's grave and other characters who were in a way reborn through the books.
But if I'm honest the thing I love most about Edinburgh is just how beautiful the city is even when it's raining. The city is filled with beautiful buildings which gives it a unique character that just can't be found anywhere else.
Glasgow
This was a stop along our way to the lake district but we were able to wander around for a bit to see the cathedral and long enough for me to get lost enough to find the statue of James Watt who is either a several great uncle or grandpa. (clearly I need to do a little more family history) Either way its been added to the list of places I want to come back and explore more. And yes, that list is getting very long.
ENGLAND
The Lake District
London
There is so much to see and do that I don’t really know where to start, so I’m just going to try and do London the same way I did Paris only with more pictures and less descriptions because this post is already too long.
The Museums
I love the National Gallery! It’s absolutely full of beautiful and historic stuff and Trafalgar Square is amazing too. So go see the Van Gogh and the Vemeer and all the other cool stuff that I don’t have time to tell you about.

Stonehenge and Stourhead
I love this pile of stones which are somehow all the more beautiful and intriguing because of their mystery. And though there are many theories as to their origin and purpose, I think my love for them is greater for not knowing The Why.
And then there is one of the most beautiful gardens in England that are so beautiful either because or in spite of the rain and the fact they were in Pride and Prejudice is yet another reason for loving Stourhead.
The City at Night
I don’t think these pictures really need descriptions. They’re just beautiful shots of some of the cities most historic and famous places.
Last Few Favs...
